Pop Altar’s Totally Shaky 91st Academy Award Predictions
BEST ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE
Amy Adams, “Vice”
Marina de Tavira, “Roma”
Regina King, “If Beale Street Could Talk”
Emma Stone, “The Favourite”
Rachel Weisz, “The Favourite”
Don’t even get me started on how upset I am that If Beale Street Could Talk didn’t crack the Best Picture category instead of Bohemian Rhapsody and Vice. Do. Not. Get. Me. Started. But if it’s going to get any major award on Oscar night, I think it’s going to be here, for Regina King’s flawless and affecting performance as Sharon – a mother desperately trying to hold her family together as her daughter potentially faces the prospect of her child growing up fatherless. King’s performance completely melted me, and it would be the cherry on top of a career that has been on fire in recent years.
And while I am really rooting for Regina King here, it would be hard to be mad if either Stone or Weisz took the prize for The Favourite.
