Yeesh, okay, here’s another category that could get interesting. Any sensible person would place their bet on whoever directed the Best Picture winner (you’ve already seen that I selected Roma). Easy, right? WRONG. There’s some buzz saying that it’s Spike Lee’s turn to take home a competitive Oscar after a career filled with snubs for masterpieces such as Do the Right Thing and Malcom X. Also, the Academy hasn’t strictly adhered to the 1:1 relationship between Best Director and Best Picture in recent years (see: Argo, 12 Years a Slave), AND Alfonso Cuarón has already won a Best Director Oscar… So could it be time for Spike Lee to take home the prize? If it is, I’ll be one of the strongest voices cheering him on, but I still think this is Cuarón’s to lose.

Editor-in-Chief - I'm overworked in the tech industry and started this charming little blog so I could rant about movies, tv, pop culture, politics, and whatever the hell else I feel like talking about. I've conquered Comic-Con many times, and my love for Star Wars is a little bit embarrassing. I'm also hungry all the time.
