BEST ORIGINAL SCORE

“BlacKkKlansman,” Terence Blanchard

“Black Panther,” Ludwig Goransson

“If Beale Street Could Talk,” Nicholas Britell

“Isle of Dogs,” Alexandre Desplat

“Mary Poppins Returns,” Marc Shaiman, Scott Wittman

Oof. The further I get down this list, the more I realize how many categories aren’t a lock at all. We can essentially only rule out Mary Poppins. I also don’t think there’s enough heat behind Isle of Dogs to think it wan pull out a win here. Besides, Alexandre Desplat has won before. So, that means Black Panther, BlacKkKlansman, or If Beale Street Could Talk. I honestly won’t be mad if any of these films wins. But, the score from Beale Street was just so haunting and beautiful and unique that I think you have to give it to Nicholas Britell. This could be risky seeing as how Beale Street doesn’t have that many nominations at all but it’s an undeniably beautiful score. Let him take home the Oscar. If not, it’s Ludwig Goransson for Black Panther.

Editor-in-Chief - I'm overworked in the tech industry and started this charming little blog so I could rant about movies, tv, pop culture, politics, and whatever the hell else I feel like talking about. I've conquered Comic-Con many times, and my love for Star Wars is a little bit embarrassing. I'm also hungry all the time.
