Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series — Comedy

Pamela Adlon, Better Things

Alison Brie, GLOW

Rachel Brosnahan, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

Issa Rae, Insecure

Frankie Shaw, SMILF

Winner: Okay, so I reallllly want Issa Rae to win this. Insecure is one of those unexpected comedy treasures that was probably intended to allure African American audiences, but wound up being accessible way beyond that audience. And Issa Rae gives us a sympathetic, imperfect, and utterly hilarious character on the show, along with Yvonne Orji who was criminally overlooked for her work as best friend Molly. But once again, I think the HFPA is going to go with Rachel Brosnahan for Mrs. Maisel. Especially since it’s quite a departure for her from playing one of the most sad and psychologically abused characters ever on House of Cards. They may just be ecstatic that she’s no longer fearing for her life and actually cracking a few jokes. I know I was!

Editor-in-Chief - I'm overworked in the tech industry and started this charming little blog so I could rant about movies, tv, pop culture, politics, and whatever the hell else I feel like talking about. I've conquered Comic-Con many times, and my love for Star Wars is a little bit embarrassing. I'm also hungry all the time.
